Gerdau Corsa Sidertul is a minimill plant (meltshop and rolling mill) for the production of long products such as bars and small profiles. The stacker area at rolling mill exit side was equipped with obsolete analogue drives originally supplied by Danieli Automation in 2009.

The revamping of the stacker, consisting in the supply and engineering of the new preassembled drives (ABB DCS800) and subsequent upgrades of the automation software has been successfully completed to the Customer’s full satisfaction.

Moreover, during the revamping phase plant automation was optimized and fine-tuned as requested by the Customer, to avoid manual operator intervention on the stacker during the production of angle sections, something that was done frequently before the revamping.

Thanks to the Danieli Team, full production was achieved in automatic mode without any operators inside the stacker area to fix any problems, thus increasing plant production and work safety conditions.

Following this successful revamping, Gerdau Corsa confirms its trust in Danieli technology for future projects.
