New Danieli Automation MV Q-DRIVE 3L-NPC Multidrive System fully operational in Tokyo Steel CRM plant
This successful project confirms and strengthens a long-lasting partnership

On 18th February 2019, the first coil (commercial grade) was successfully rolled in the Tokyo Steel Cold Rolling Mill plant, Okayama province site, after new Danieli Automation MV Q-DRIVE 3L-NPC MV multidrives system installation, with the target to replace the existing cyclo-converters drives and synchronous motors for the Mill Stand and the two Tension reels.
The entire turnkey modernization project includes a MV Q-DRIVE 3L-NPC Multidrive water cooled cabinet (MVD), with 15 MVA IGCT Active Front End line converter, one 15 MVA IGCT Inverter for the Mill Stand and two 11 MVA IGCT MV Inverters for the Tension Reels, the three new MV motors, squirrel cage rotor asynchronous type, a new LV cabinet (MCS) for the auxiliaries of the system components, and a brand new MV/MV converter transformer. Moreover, the installation comprises a new LV pay-off reel drive for the existing motor. The project has included the interfacing with the existing Customer overriding control system automation, taking advantage of the high flexibility of the Q-DRIVE control system to minimize changes on the Customer side and commissioning time.
Erection and startup activities has been in line with scheduled revamping program, with full satisfaction for Danieli and Tokyo Steel teams.
