Plant Simulation / Discrete Event Simulation
Danieli Automation provides plant simulation / discrete event simulation to enable plant simulation and optimization of production systems and processes. Discrete event simulation help to optimize material flow, product mix, resource utilization and logistics for the plant and specific lines. The model imitates the dynamic process with the aim of obtaining results that can be transferred to the real plant.
The simulation is a numerical technique for conducting computer experiments, which involves use of mathematical models and/or logical that describe the production behaviour for an extended time period. Output of the simulation allow for easy interpretation of the simulation results. Statistical analysis, graphs and charts display the utilization of buffers, machines and personnel. Comparing the simulation results with real production is the way of fine-tune the models.
Some key issues for plant simulation software:
you can perform bottleneck analysis, Sankey diagram, throughput, resource utilization, statistics, process simulation and failure simulation;
input data can be exchanged from Excel tables or databases;
output data can be copied to Excel for further analysis;
can generate a pack-and-go executable of the simulation that can be run on any computer with the limitation of no modifications are allowed except of start and stop times for the simulation.
can also be used to test the Advanced Scheduler optimizing results before going into production.
can be useful for testing of production mix for new production campaigns as input for the model tuning.
